This rugged beauty is a water-wise gardener's dream!

A water-wise gardener’s dream! Once established, this rugged beauty not only survives the heat of warmer climates; but thrives in them! Perched on deep dark stems, each creamy-white blossom blushed with just a touch of pink reminds us of exotic birds with tail feathers fanned.

From the Heatwave™ Series, its shrub-like, compact, evergreen habit can be lightly clipped for a short informal hedge. Salvia Glimmer has well-branched, heavily veined and aromatic foliage.

Salvia General Information

Salvia are excellent, easy-to-grow plants for a summer show of intense color. Salvia perform best in full sun. A real heat lover; they respond well to shearing after blooming to prompt fresh foliage and blooms. Idaho has restricted all potted plant material from being shipped into Idaho at this time.

Salvia Plant Care

Although heat tolerant and drought resistant, once established, this sage appreciates regular watering and can handle partial shade. Quite adaptable and grows well in many kinds of soil as long as it gets good drainage. Can be divided every 3 - 5 years in early spring. After blooming, cut down to basal growth, as new growth will be more appealing. May flop if given too rich soil or excessive shade. Blooms more profusely with regular watering. Dislikes a spot that is damp over the winter.

Plantable Pots

Our plants are grown in 3.5x3.5x4” plantable pots. Made from 100% biodegradable coconut husk fibers (coir), these pots have tremendous advantages over plastic pots. With better air exchange, this "breathable" pot fosters robust root growth and reduces transplant shock since you can plant the pots directly in the ground. The pot naturally becomes part of the soil on its own over time—no composting required—and since they're made from a renewable resource that requires very little energy, they're earth-friendly too!
