Raspberry-pink plumes bloom in mid-summer on dwarf, graceful, fern-like mounds of bronze-green sharply toothed leaves. Astilbe Visions offers a cool color contrast to containers or when placed en masse in the front of the perennial border. Vision Series varieties are more drought tolerant. Astilbe are mainstays of shade and woodland gardens. They combine well with other moisture loving plants like Brunnera, Ligularia, Lobelia and Hosta.

Astilbe General Information

Astilbe lend a refined grace to perennial borders. Perfect for the shade garden along with Hostas and Ferns. Lush deeply cut foliage is attractive for the entire season and is colored from green to bronze. Effective anywhere with rich moist soil and partial shade. Idaho has restricted all potted plant material from being shipped into Idaho at this time.

Astilbe Plant Care

Low care. Needs moisture during dry spells. Dried heads can be left standing if desired or cut down at anytime. Can be divided every 3-5 years in early spring. Cut through woody crowns to separate eyes to form additional plants. Add fertilizer or compost if desired when planting or moving and in late fall to winter.

Plantable Pots

Our plants are grown in 3.5x3.5x4” plantable pots. Made from 100% biodegradable coconut husk fibers (coir), these pots have tremendous advantages over plastic pots. With better air exchange, this "breathable" pot fosters robust root growth and reduces transplant shock since you can plant the pots directly in the ground. The pot naturally becomes part of the soil on its own over time—no composting required—and since they're made from a renewable resource that requires very little energy, they're earth-friendly too!
